I love this Heather! You make the exercise very easy and accessible. I do the look and listen parts when I walk my dog in the morning (when I remember). Getting out of focusing on thoughts is so helpful for me when feeling anxiety since it’s my thoughts that are causing the anxiety. Another way to remember to practice being mindful is to set a recurring alarm on the phone. My favorite part of the podcast was at the end when you said winning the game of life was being fully present. That is so counter to our teaching. Thank you for the reminders today.
Hey Stacey! So lovely to be greeted by your wonderful comments this morning. I’m happy you loved the podcast and also for your sharing this tip about using a timer as a reminder. We all have our phones with us, so that’s very doable. Good to know that being present helps you with anxiety. It’s such a common state for us to be in, that we need a variety of ways to deal with it and not let it part of our daily emotional “weather forecast.” Thanks again for taking the time to comment, always greatly appreciated.
I love this technique – it’s so simple and effective. I identify with many of the thoughts Jenny struggles with when I’m not occupied with something else, and it is very draining. Life feels like it’s slipping by when we can’t get out of that mindset. This technique is a wonderful way to bring us back to the present moment and appreciate life NOW. Thank you very much for sharing this, Heather. I love your podcast.
Jennifer! I’m so happy you love the podcast. You made my day. Thank you kindly for being a listener and taking the time to comment. Knowing that something I share is helpful to you and others really energizes me to keep on creating resources and new episodes. You are so right that being stuck in our head can be very draining and we miss out on a lot of life. I’d love to hear some of the ways you find the technique helps you! Wishing you a wonderful holiday season being in the NOW!
I love how simple this is, I have always struggled with bulky meditations.
