Meeting with Heather Fork as a professional life-coach has been a watershed event in my effort to transition into a larger life for myself. I appreciate Heather’s confidence and passion for the work she has chosen. I’m inspired by how she is efficient without being rushed- an amazing number of insights come to the fore in what feels like a luxurious amount of time. The tools she brings to the table take on new, much deeper life due to her fluency with them. There is nothing about the process that feels artificial, superficial, or trivial. Her suggestions are grounded in deep psychology yet eminently practical. The work we are doing will have ramifications for me far beyond the career transition. I was not familiar with life-coaching before we began and now, based on my experience with Heather feel a great respect and gratitude for the life-enhancing work she is about.

  • Heather, I can’t tell you how lucky I am to have met and worked with you. I came to you at the time of confusion and desperation and you were a beacon of light. Through talking with you, I learned to listen to myself, and that is no small thing. Sometimes it is scary, but it is the best way of moving forward. I am also so grateful to you for introducing me to Dr. G. I learned a lot about the pharmaceutical industry from talking with him, and he introduced me to the Regional Director MSL who recommended me for my current job as a writer at a medical communications agency. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I had not stumbled upon your website. I’m so grateful we met! I cannot thank you enough for your warm, uplifting guidance. With gratitude,

  • Dear Heather,

Thank you so much for our meeting yesterday.  I came away from our discussion feeling as if I had been given “permission” to be and accept my true self.  I felt a little blue at first, realizing how much of my persona and path has been dictated by the “shoulds”.  But taking the first steps in accepting my true wants and interests is starting to feel freeing and energizing.

You had mentioned tele-psychiatry, and my first reaction was the same as it has always been–no way.  When I examined my aversion further, I realized it is based entirely on the “shoulds” and image and being a “real” doctor.  But the more I consider it, the more it makes sense for me. No commute?  Check!   No overhead?  Check check!    Less face-to-face with people?  Now you’re talking!  I think most of patients would be receptive.

I can see myself moving in a direction to gradually transition my practice to my home, still incorporating and expanding a medical writing venture as well.  I have much to consider, but have a renewed vigor for life and for my future. Thank you!  I am still looking forward to our upcoming meetings and intend to look at your scheduler ASAP.

  • Hi Heather,

So after talking with you last week things have been going much better. I think just talking with you and doing those exercises really helped me a lot. Also doing the Enneagram personality test made me realize a lot about myself. I think I was just overwhelmed with the stress of residency and was letting my anxiety get the best of me. Now that I’m studying harder I think I’ll do just fine with my specialty. Thank you again for all your help. It’s amazing how much the 1 hour was able to do for me! I will definitely recommend you to anyone else I know who seems to be having doubts about their career.

  • A desperate midnight internet search for “quit medicine” led me to Heather, but after working with her she helped me to clarify what I was really searching for–deeper personal connections and more meaningful work in medicine. She gave me the tools to quiet my mind and listen to my heart so that I could find a new direction.  While she has a clear process mapped out for clients, it is incredibly fluid and allows her to be an expert guide as the transition journey takes unexpected twists and turns. Her worksheets for self-reflection, recommendations for reading and practical advice for exploring and networking set up a great foundation.  But beyond all of that, Heather also used our time to impart her wisdom about living my fullest life, being authentic and finding joy.  I thought I was beyond help, but with Heather’s guidance I have developed a whole new perspective and gratefully look forward to the next adventure.

  • I knew I needed a change. I had been thinking about it for years. I was burnt out, less effective than I had ever been, and my life was totally out of balance. But to what and how? Fortunately, as I was surfing the net one night after a long , irritating day at work, I came across the Doctor’s Crossing website. I came back to it several times before I finally emailed Heather. That simple action turned out to be a life-altering moment. Heather helped me look at my career and my personal life from a holistic perspective, as pieces of a grand puzzle that needed to fit together in a coordinated harmony.  She taught me ways in which I could preserve my identity as a healer and activist while also  being kind to myself. She helped me envision my future path and then supported me as I changed directions. When I needed a new skill to navigate through the challenges, she taught  me. When I had to make a difficult decision, she provided me with  the information and contacts I needed. When I was scared and doubtful, she was my cheerleader. I love my new career! I am happy at work and at home. I’m certainly living a healthier lifestyle than I ever have. I am working less hours with less stress and making twice the money. I couldn’t have done it without her! When I need to make  significant career decisions in the future, you can bet that I will use her services  again and again and again!
