Testimonials

Hi Heather,

How are you? Are you keeping busy helping physicians like me reach their goals? FYI I just passed my final exam to become an Epic Ambulatory Credentialed Trainer at my hospital!

My role with the EHR has developed into a big part of our Quality team for all of Primary Care. I am at 20-24 hours/week with this. I have proven over the last year that this role is worth it, and that I am THE person for the job. I even have my own office space once we moved into a new building.  I feel so lucky, though I know I have done the work to get here and make it happen.

Thank-you again for your support and guidance in my transition. I am pretty much where I want to be in my career, which feels amazing!

- Laura Marusinec, MD Urgent Care Pediatrician/ Epic Physician Builder

“The ability that I have acquired to be able to stand up for myself in a toxic work environment, to be more sure of myself, to listen to my gut, to feel good about my abilities as a physician, and to not feel inadequate – are all because you have helped me to grow and to tap into my ‘true self.’ Thank you for bringing me to the point that I am today. I am forever grateful.”

- M.M., Physician

Heather, I can’t tell you how lucky I am to have met and worked with you. I came to you at the time of confusion and desperation and you were a beacon of light. Through talking with you, I learned to listen to myself, and that is no small thing. Sometimes it is scary, but it is the best way of moving forward. I am also so grateful to you for introducing me to Dr. G. I learned a lot about the pharmaceutical industry from talking with him, and he introduced me to the Regional Director MSL who recommended me for my current job as a writer at a medical communications agency. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I had not stumbled upon your website. I’m so grateful we met! I cannot thank you enough for your warm, uplifting guidance. With gratitude,

- H.H., Physician

Heather, Thank you for all your insightful counseling and expertise. It has been extremely helpful as I have been reflecting upon my career, and key in the navigating and negotiating process. With your input, I have been able to develop a much more satisfying and rewarding work situation. With appreciation,

Heather, Your help has been invaluable to me, I felt so twisted up and frustrated a few months ago and now I have a clear direction and plan. It is nice to have someone else believe in you when you are not believing in yourself! The homework was also helpful and I have continued to add to and revise the homework assignments. I have seen your name in some articles lately and I am very happy I got the chance to work with you!

- Jennifer Petrillo, MD Family Medicine Physician

Hi Heather! I’m just writing to say I told one of my friends about you because she’s feeling unfulfilled in her career. I totally appreciated your service & I think you need to know that! Like Jesus saved my life but you saved my life focus!!! Thank you. I thought I’d let you know I was spreading the word about you. I hope you are having a very blessed 2014.

If it weren’t for Dr. Heather Fork, I would still be the frustrated physician I became over the years …of what I viewed to be diminishing fulfillment in the practice of medicine… and a cup half empty. I was introduced to Heather through a fellow physician, and so began my journey back to feeling inspired about my career and purpose in life. Heather’s calm, compassionate presence was a welcome invitation. I felt authentically heard for the 1st time in years. Starving for any improvement in my life at work, Heather fed me on a wave of discovery through thoughtful questions and mind-opening personality testing. This allowed me to re-connect with my inner self. The result was that my past and present began to integrate into an exciting future where my talents and experiences are combined, allowing me to offer help for people in ways that have since energized my existence into a cup near-full. I was so impressed with what Heather had to offer that I decided to embark on the very same training she went through to become a co-active coach. Her passionate support gave me the courage to move forward, and I remain forever grateful for her contribution to my feeling fulfilled on a daily basis! Thanks Heather!!

Heather, I realized this morning, I had not written in my grateful diary and thought that I may write to you directly. It has been such an amazing journey and I realize there is more to come and I am in awe to the magnificence that I will eventually reach. It all started with your guidance and assistance and attitude to help lead me to a path that I may never have believed to be true as I was told by society and the people I loved dearest. I am happier now than I have been in my working life and I have an amazing vision that I want to see through. Thank you for everything and thank you for being my biggest fan, even when I doubted myself continuously.

Meeting with Heather Fork as a professional life-coach has been a watershed event in my effort to transition into a larger life for myself. I appreciate Heather’s confidence and passion for the work she has chosen. I’m inspired by how she is efficient without being rushed- an amazing number of insights come to the fore in what feels like a luxurious amount of time. The tools she brings to the table take on new, much deeper life due to her fluency with them. There is nothing about the process that feels artificial, superficial, or trivial. Her suggestions are grounded in deep psychology yet eminently practical. The work we are doing will have ramifications for me far beyond the career transition. I was not familiar with life-coaching before we began and now, based on my experience with Heather feel a great respect and gratitude for the life-enhancing work she is about.

Dear Heather, I wanted to share with you once again how grateful I am for taking the time to converse with me last week. It was obvious that you were genuinely interested in helping. You have provided me with objective and helpful feedback as well as some aids to help me. Your input was not only very informative, but also inspirational. As we’ve discussed – I am exploring some of the directions we talked about. I thank you for your time, and moreover, I thank you for the passion and willingness to share your advice with people.

Heather
Thinking about leaving clinical medicine has been a sensitive topic professionally and personally– as I’ve been surrounded by discouragement to even consider it. So, I truly appreciate your respectful and confidential approach. Reaching out to you has been one of the best decisions I’ve made this year. I am very excited about your suggestion to pursue medical writing and think it’s the creative outlet I need that doesn’t require a complete make-over of my skills. Hopefully, this will allow me the “out” of clinical medicine when I am ready for it. Thanks so much for all your encouragement and guidance.

“My work with you is life changing. I am very grateful to have crossed paths with you and am a different person because of it. I have learned much from you and through you. You have been very professional but you have also shown the compassion usually shared between friends. You have inspired me “to believe” in spite of my inner skeptic. I have a lot of respect for you and consider you one of the great mentors I have been privileged to have. You are doing a great job and the value of your services is tremendous!”

The single greatest and most satisfying professional relationship I have fostered is with Heather Fork, MD. As my life coach, Heather quickly left a footprint on my heart and enriched my soul. I will never be the same…Heather has shared with me the countless strategies that have brought me to new heights of success. Both professionally and personally, I have found greater self-confidence… Heather’s influence has allowed me to realize what is most important in my life. Through our values work, she has helped me restructure my life, which has not only made me more successful as a physician, but as a husband and father. I’m not sure how I could have traveled this path without her.

The improvements in my life, which are the direct result of Dr. Heather Fork’s coaching have been nothing short of amazing! Every subject we have worked on has been unbelievably successful. She really helped me set goals and stay focused and have a winning attitude. When I took a little break a few months back I had a crisis come up. I was on the phone with Heather and was soon “back in the game”. The crisis passed and I was able to make good decisions with her help. My family relationships, health, work environment and living situation have all improved since we started this process together. Thank you, Dr. Fork, for new life, new interests and new energy to enjoy it all!

I did not know what a Life Coach was until I learned about Heather Fork a year ago. Since that time I have “met” with Heather regularly. Her program has really been a Godsend. Heather is someone I can really rely on and openly share with. She has been instrumental in helping me attain my goals and finding balance in my personal and professional life. She has made a real difference in my life! I strongly and without reservation recommend her as a coach.

One breakthrough (I had) is that you made me realize I can still do clinical medicine and adjust it to my needs. I realized I won’t have much chance going part-time at my current job unless I continue to take full call which I don’t want to do. I am going to look for part-time no call jobs and hospitalists jobs in this area. Thanks for opening my eyes. I really thought the change had to be so dramatic but there is a lot of choice out there!

Heather, I know it has been quite a while, but just wanted to follow up with you and let you know again how much I appreciated your help, support and guidance when I really needed it.  You are so wonderful for doing that and I am so very thankful!  I finally made a decision a few months back and have very, very happily changed careers back into the IT field where I’m super excited about work, learning and the challenges I get to conquer.  Your wisdom was an integral part of this successful process, so a big hug and thank you to you.  I wish you the best in all you do and if I ever hear of anyone in the medical (or a related) field need counseling or guidance, I will be sure to give them your name and website.

Hi Heather,

So after talking with you last week things have been going much better. I think just talking with you and doing those exercises really helped me a lot. Also doing the Enneagram personality test made me realize a lot about myself. I think I was just overwhelmed with the stress of residency and was letting my anxiety get the best of me. Now that I’m studying harder I think I’ll do just fine with my specialty. Thank you again for all your help. It’s amazing how much the 1 hour was able to do for me! I will definitely recommend you to anyone else I know who seems to be having doubts about their career.

Dear Heather,

Thank you so much for our meeting yesterday.  I came away from our discussion feeling as if I had been given “permission” to be and accept my true self.  I felt a little blue at first, realizing how much of my persona and path has been dictated by the “shoulds”.  But taking the first steps in accepting my true wants and interests is starting to feel freeing and energizing.

You had mentioned tele-psychiatry, and my first reaction was the same as it has always been–no way.  When I examined my aversion further, I realized it is based entirely on the “shoulds” and image and being a “real” doctor.  But the more I consider it, the more it makes sense for me. No commute?  Check!   No overhead?  Check check!    Less face-to-face with people?  Now you’re talking!  I think most of patients would be receptive.

I can see myself moving in a direction to gradually transition my practice to my home, still incorporating and expanding a medical writing venture as well.  I have much to consider, but have a renewed vigor for life and for my future. Thank you!  I am still looking forward to our upcoming meetings and intend to look at your scheduler ASAP.

A desperate midnight internet search for “quit medicine” led me to Heather, but after working with her she helped me to clarify what I was really searching for–deeper personal connections and more meaningful work in medicine. She gave me the tools to quiet my mind and listen to my heart so that I could find a new direction.  While she has a clear process mapped out for clients, it is incredibly fluid and allows her to be an expert guide as the transition journey takes unexpected twists and turns. Her worksheets for self-reflection, recommendations for reading and practical advice for exploring and networking set up a great foundation.  But beyond all of that, Heather also used our time to impart her wisdom about living my fullest life, being authentic and finding joy.  I thought I was beyond help, but with Heather’s guidance I have developed a whole new perspective and gratefully look forward to the next adventure.

I knew I needed a change. I had been thinking about it for years. I was burnt out, less effective than I had ever been, and my life was totally out of balance. But to what and how? Fortunately, as I was surfing the net one night after a long , irritating day at work, I came across the Doctor’s Crossing website. I came back to it several times before I finally emailed Heather. That simple action turned out to be a life-altering moment. Heather helped me look at my career and my personal life from a holistic perspective, as pieces of a grand puzzle that needed to fit together in a coordinated harmony.  She taught me ways in which I could preserve my identity as a healer and activist while also  being kind to myself. She helped me envision my future path and then supported me as I changed directions. When I needed a new skill to navigate through the challenges, she taught  me. When I had to make a difficult decision, she provided me with  the information and contacts I needed. When I was scared and doubtful, she was my cheerleader. I love my new career! I am happy at work and at home. I’m certainly living a healthier lifestyle than I ever have. I am working less hours with less stress and making twice the money. I couldn’t have done it without her! When I need to make  significant career decisions in the future, you can bet that I will use her services  again and again and again!

I am not a doctor (nor do I play one on TV), but I sought Heather’s help after witnessing a beautiful transformation that she fostered in my cousin, a pediatrician who found that she hated going to work. Heather generously agreed to work with me when I was feeling very unfulfilled, confused, disillusioned, dispirited, depressed, unmoored, unimportant, angry, frustrated, sad, tired, unappreciated. Does any of this sound familiar? She was patient and empathetic (with her exceptional bedside manner), offering an objective assessment (diagnosis) and subsequent plan of action (prescription) that helped me identify the source of my unhappiness and actively correct it (She cured me!). Hallelujah!

Today I write this endorsement from a totally different place – literally and figuratively. I’m in a new job that I love, where I work with intelligent, creative, respectful, supportive, and humorous colleagues. I am doing work that suits me very well. I am upbeat when I head out the door to the office and balanced when I arrive home in the evening. My husband and children are also the beneficiaries of Heather’s healing touch and deep wisdom as our home life has improved exponentially. My capacity to give and receive has been restored. My level of contentment and personal satisfaction has almost obliterated my memory of where I was before I met Heather. And she may no longer be a practicing dermatologist – but my skin has improved, too!

Love,
